STRENGTHEN + HEAL
Hi I’m AMANDA MONZON, a certified yoga instructor (YA 500). I am inspired to share my learning’s of how to have a sustainable yoga practice. Big on using props and modifying to get the most length, backbend, twist, forward fold rather than depth or full expression the pose. It is all about the journey, feeling what you feel, not about the result or how it looks.
Provide moments of silence, breathing, allowing you to be in the experience. What is your body telling you? Can your drop in, let go of the effort, not going physically deeper but just being.

I teach classes that integrate creative sequencing, concise alignment cues, and movement with the breath. My teachings come from a few lineages; linking breath with movement from Hatha, the flowing of postures along with longer holds from Ashtanga, and physical alignment from Iyengar. Each class has a different purpose or focus but generally comprises of a warm up, standing sequence, cool down, and then the most important pose, savasana…the final resting pose.
Journey
In the fall of 2013 my yoga journey began when faced with severe joint pain to the point where it was difficult to walk. As a result my lifestyle changed through better nutrition and incorporating yoga. Yoga helped me stay flexible and build strength to support my joints. I have seen first-hand how yoga can provide tools to heal the body along with accepting the way it is.
Now after more than 12 years of practice, I keep coming back to steady my mind working towards center.
Meaning behind the lotus flower
“The journey of this sacred (lotus) flower reflects the journey of the yogi. We are rooted in the earth, absorbed by the endless cycle of births, deaths, sickness, tragedies, celebrations, bills, apartment leases, and family relations. These cycles are known as avidya. The yogi knows this much as the dirt of avidya, the great mistake of identifying ourselves with something other than our divine nature.
The promise of yoga is that eventually, through enough nurturing and determination, we will surface above the water and realize our full potential.
The struggle is just part of the process, and the result is pure beauty.”
